Arizona Custom Home Builder
A custom-built home is a Bespoke home, meaning it was made to order and built to your exact specifications and desires. When you hire a custom home builder in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff or anywhere in Arizona, working with an experienced custom home builder makes the process much more enjoyable. You are taking the comfort, space, design and aesthetic of your house into your own hands. You have control of all aspects of your home’s construction, from start to finish. Your ability to customize every aspect of the house design means you can have a home that is uniquely yours. Bespoke Builders’ roots are in Custom Built homes. Shannon began construction building custom houses with his uncle in Michigan and has built many custom homes as well as luxury condominiums both in Michigan and Arizona.
Here are a few things to keep in mind with undergoing a custom home building project in Phoenix, Glendale, Flagstaff, Tucson, Chandler, Tempe, Scottsdale or anywhere in Arizona:
Energy Efficiency
You can avoid heating and cooling loss with a properly insulated home. When you make sure every inch of your home is properly insulated, you can save big on your heating and cooling bills and make sure that your home maintains the perfect temperature, year round. Exterior wall thickness, material, and construction are key to providing the desired insulation value. There are many options for exterior wall construction such as concrete block, wood framing, insulated block, structural insulated panels, etc.; the most common of these being wood framing. With wood framing, the exterior walls in homes have been built with 2×4, 2×6, 2×8, and even larger studs. Obviously, the thicker the wall cavity, the more insulation and better R-value can be achieved. Of course, one must weigh the initial expense of construction with the anticipated energy savings and determine what type of wall construction is desired to attain optimal energy efficiency. Basement Homes – Depending on where your property is located, another excellent option for energy efficiency is building a basement home. Although a basement home can be built anywhere, areas near the mountains, with extremely rocky ground or caliche in the ground will make building one cost more. That being said, the earth is an excellent insulator and a basement provides an area with a more consistent temperature compared to the levels above ground that deal with the extreme heat and cold that can be found throughout Arizona. Basement homes are an excellent way to save on energy costs. They also provide more privacy and intimacy if your home is close to other homes, as is often the case in Arizona. Many of the historic district homes in Phoenix have basements, most of which were used to store foods because of the cooler temperatures. For a long time, most home builders in Arizona went away from building basement homes, not because they didn’t see the benefit of a basement, but because it is faster and easier to build a second floor than to build a basement. There are, however, more track home builders offering basement options, because there has been such a demand and desire from home buyers who recognize the benefits of a basement home and the energy efficiency. The Laundry Room
The days of the laundry room near the kitchen or garage are gone… or can be if so desired. Depending on your desires or needs, you may opt to locate the laundry near the bedrooms, on the second floor, in the basement, near a mud room or have two laundry rooms with one in the master bedroom closet. Each individual or family use their home differently. You may be an equestrian or dog breeder and need a mud room where dirty outerwear can be removed and immediately be deposited into the laundry room so the dirt doesn’t migrate through the entire home, or, you may be a working parent who, when at home, needs the convenience of the laundry room near the master bedroom. Even if you’re a single professional who launders most of their clothing, your idea of the best location of the laundry room will be unique. Whatever your preference, the function of the laundry room is important. Having enough storage for detergents, fabric softener, bleach, stain removers, etc. as well as sufficient surfaces to fold clothes and hang delicates, does not happen by mistake, but can be thought out and designed with your Bespoke custom home.HVAC Unit
When you use a Phoenix-based custom home builder like Bespoke Builders to customize your dream home, you have someone who understands the importance of cooling and heating your home properly. No one likes “hot spots” in their home, and proper air balance can ensure comfort throughout. When building a custom home, you have the option of selecting every detail, including the HVAC system. Bespoke Builders always recommends using a high quality, brand name system that will efficiently cool and heat your home. There are other options besides the standard heat pump everyone is familiar with that also save energy, such as a geothermal heat pump. A geothermal heat pump uses the nearly constant temperature underground, which is about 55 degrees no matter where you live, and uses the earth’s natural insulation to transfer heat, cooling hot air in the summer and warming cold air in the winter. These units also use the excess warm air to heat water for your water heater. Geothermal heat pumps are the most energy-efficient systems to heat or cool your home and are an excellent option to consider when building your custom home.Storage Space
So many homes are lacking in storage space, but when you create a custom home you are in charge of the amount of storage space that your home contains. In the design stage, you can work with your architect to ensure that ample storage space is built into your home. You can have one large room for storage or many closets scattered around the house, the choice is yours! Since the Phoenix and Tucson areas are typically warm, many home designers and builders don’t design with coat closets near the entry, as used to be the custom or as is common in other states with colder climates. One thing this did, however, is left guests with nowhere to put their shoes when they remove them while visiting. Bespoke Builders likes to examine all the possibilities of function when building a custom home, whether its storage space, closet function/size, garage space or restroom access from the pool area. Working with a quality custom home builder, like Bespoke Builders, does make a difference.Architectural Style
Tuscan, Tudor, Ranch, Modern, Contemporary, Asian, Timber frame, log cabin, colonial… there are a lot of architectural styles. What is your style? What makes you feel at home? Is it luxury? Is it the coziness of a warm fireplace and a stone hearth? If you’re not sure, that’s okay. We’d be happy to work with you on your home to figure out what you like and are available at your convenience.
